Your inventory stays on your iPad.
Effective date: [DD Month 2026] · Applies to the Ubicato app for iPad and this website.
The short version
- Ubicato has no account and no sign-in. We never ask for your name or email address.
- Everything you record in the app stays on your iPad: rooms, storage, items, notes, photos, history and lending records. We don’t receive a copy, and we can’t see it.
- The app has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and contains no third-party code that collects data. It works fully offline.
- The camera and photo library are used only when you choose to add a picture.
- Because we collect nothing, the app’s App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected”.
1. Who we are
Ubicato is published by [Publisher legal name], [postal address], India (“we”, “us”). If you have a question about this policy, write to [privacy email address].
2. What the app stores, and where
Ubicato keeps your inventory in a database inside the app’s own storage on your iPad. Nothing in the table below is ever sent to us or to anyone else.
| What | Where it is kept |
|---|---|
| Rooms, storage (cupboards, drawers, shelves and so on), items, quantities, categories, tags and notes | The app’s private storage on your iPad |
| Photos you add to items or storage | The app’s private storage on your iPad |
| History: when items were added, moved, seen, lent, returned or deleted | The app’s private storage on your iPad |
| Lending records: the name or place you type for who has an item, due dates and notes | The app’s private storage on your iPad |
| Display preferences (for example background colour and picture quality) and recently used names | The app’s private storage on your iPad |
| Automatic and manual backups, with copies of your photos | The Ubicato folder on your iPad, which you can open in the Files app |
We have no server that holds your data. So we can’t view, recover, restore or delete your inventory for you. Only you, on your iPad, can do that.
3. What we collect
Nothing. Ubicato does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data or usage data. In particular, the app:
- has no user accounts and no sign-in;
- contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software, our own or anyone else’s;
- makes no network connections of its own to save or sync your data;
- does not use your location, contacts, microphone or any device identifier.
Information Apple may share with us. If you have chosen in your iPad’s settings to share analytics or crash data with app developers, Apple may give us summary statistics, such as how many people installed the app, or anonymised crash reports. Apple decides what is shared, under Apple’s Privacy Policy. This information does not include anything you recorded in Ubicato, and we cannot use it to identify you.
4. Camera and photos
When you add a photo, iPadOS asks for your permission before Ubicato can use the camera or open your photo library. Ubicato uses them only at that moment, only for the picture you choose, and keeps the picture on your iPad. You can change these permissions at any time in the iPad Settings app, under Privacy & Security.
5. Information about other people
When you lend an item, you can type who has it, for example “Ramesh” or “Taken to court”. That text stays on your iPad, like everything else, and we never receive it. Please record only what you need to keep track of your things.
[Owner to consider: whether to say anything more about the user’s own responsibilities when they record other people’s names, particularly for office use. VERIFY the position under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (including any exemption for personal or domestic purposes) before publishing.]
6. Backups, exports and sharing
- Ubicato’s own backups are saved in the Ubicato folder in the Files app (On My iPad › Ubicato › backups). If you copy or move them somewhere else, such as iCloud Drive or another app, they are then handled under that service’s terms.
- Your iPad’s backups. If you back up your iPad with iCloud Backup or to a computer, iPadOS normally includes Ubicato’s data. Apple handles those backups under its own terms, and we never see them.
- Export. The Export everything option creates a file and opens the iPad share sheet. Where that file goes is entirely up to you.
7. Keeping your data safe
Your inventory is protected by your iPad’s own security. When your iPad has a passcode, iPadOS encrypts app data stored on the device. We recommend using a passcode, and keeping any exported files and backups somewhere safe.
8. Deleting your data
- To delete individual items or storage, use Delete in the app. They move to the Trash, and Empty Trash removes them permanently.
- To delete everything, delete the Ubicato app from your iPad. This removes the app’s data, including the backups in its Files folder.
- Copies you made yourself are not removed when you delete the app. That includes exported files, backups you moved elsewhere, and iPad backups made through iCloud or a computer.
9. Children
Ubicato is a general home and office organiser and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no data from anyone, it collects none from children.
10. This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party embeds, and loads no fonts or scripts from other sites. Like any website, it is served by a hosting provider, [hosting provider name]. That provider may automatically record standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to operate and secure the service. [Confirm what your host logs and for how long, e.g. “kept for up to __ days”.] We don’t use this information to identify you.
11. If you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply to you, and keep it for [period, e.g. 12 months] after the conversation ends, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Your email reaches us through our email provider, [email provider].
If you want help with something in your inventory, please don’t send us your database file or photos unless we ask for them for a specific problem.
12. Your rights
Because the app sends us nothing, we hold no personal data about you from your use of Ubicato. So there is nothing to access, correct or erase on our side. For anything you have sent us by email, you may ask us to see it, correct it or delete it, and we will do so. You also have the rights given to you by applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
[VERIFY BEFORE PUBLISHING: which provisions of the DPDP Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules are in force on the effective date, and whether any further wording (for example on notice, consent or a grievance timeline) is needed for the email-contact case.]
13. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If Ubicato ever starts collecting any data, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy label before that version is released, and ask for your permission in the app where the law requires it.
14. Contact and grievances
[Name / Grievance contact]
[privacy email address]
[postal address]
We aim to reply within [__ days].
[VERIFY whether a designated Grievance Officer or other named contact is legally required for a publisher that collects no personal data through its app.]
This policy is governed by the laws of India. [Courts at ______ — owner to decide whether to include a jurisdiction clause here.]
